Non-Traditional Perennial Berry Festival set for July 13, 2013 in Wisconsin
When Clare Hintz, Rachel Henderson, and Erin Schneider noticed the lack of knowledge and availability about non-traditional perennial berries in their areas within the midwest, they were on a mission to make currants, honeyberries, and elderberries household names.
In conjunction with an NCR-SARE Farmer Rancher grant project, these three women are holding a "Currant Events Festival" at Hilltop Community Farm in LaValle, WI on July 13 from 10 am-2 pm. They invite their participants to celebrate these special fruits with tastings, orchard tours, a pie contest, live music, and of course plenty of opportunities to learn more about non-traditional berries in the Midwest.
The festival is free with a suggested contribution of $10, register today by contacting Erin and Rob at firstname.lastname@example.org.
